My teaching philosophy is based on the education of the whole child. I believe in learning about each and every one of my students to better develop my teaching styles. Students deserve the best that we can offer them as teachers, and I believe that starts with learning about your students so that you can help them reach their full potential and give them the best opportunity in the classroom. I want to know how students learn, their home life, what they like to do in their free time, what they fear, what they hope to be when they grow up, and how they interact with others. As educators it is our duty to provide a well-rounded, respectful learning environment for students. I strive to incorporate the four domains of development when working with students in the classroom; these include social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas of development. By integrating these domains into as many lessons as possible, I feel that there is more overall success in the classroom by giving the students an opportunity to succeed in many different areas. Each student is unique which means that differentiation is a crucial part of instruction. No two students in your classroom may learn the same way. I believe that some of the best differentiation is not always transparent to the viewer but well thought out, scaffolded, implemented, and reflected over for future work with students. I believe it is our job as educators to create a positive learning environment for students to work in. Students will succeed more when they feel welcomed, appreciated, and empowered. It is our job to constantly encourage and push our students to be the best that they can be while maintaining open communication with our students. Students should know what is expected of them in the classroom with routines and open communication on both sides. Teachers should maintain a constant level of professionalism with their students, parents, colleagues, and other working professionals. Teachers are held to a high standard, and it is our duty to rise to that standard and create the best atmosphere so that our students are well prepared for the future. Our students today become our leaders tomorrow, and it is up to the educators to make our student's dreams happen.
