The world is quickly changing, and to continue to effectively teach in a way that is going to prepare our students for their future is to integrate technology in our teaching. Many of the jobs that our students will have do not even exist yet. Our world is growing and changing exponentially. Teaching with technology is a great way to allow students to become familiar with some of the devices they will be working with. Below I have attached various technology lessons that I have created.
Popplet Concept Map: This is a great tool to use in the classroom. Popplet is free and is very user friendly. This is a great way for students to create a presentation with a group or a partner. Popplet allows you to share with other people and all work at the same time. You are able to add pictures, links, and videos right into your Popplet. This engages students in lesson by allowing them to come to the smart board and manipulate the Popplet. This Popplet is on community helpers. I worked with a colleague on this Popplet, and she shared it with her Kindergarten class. We incorporated videos for each community helper. Feel free to click on the picture and view our Popplet.
Digital Storytelling: This is a video I created using iMovie. iMovie is a great way for students to present something to the class. Some students may chose to read aloud a book, tell about their summer, or talk about something they are learning in class. Students can upload pictures, videos, music, and record their voice. For this I chose to talk about the fourth grade social studies standard dealing with major U.S. physical features. To view the video I created, click the picture.
Electronic Whiteboard Demonstration: Here I created a SMART board presentation using the free software. The free software expires after 40 days, and you must have the software to create and view these presentations. Most schools will have their own software with the electronic whiteboards that they have purchased. If you use SMART technology, feel free to click on the picture to the left and view my interactive presentation on plants. This was created with the intention of engaging students and getting them up to the board while interacting with other students. Electronic Whiteboards are a great resource to have in your classroom as far as presenting material. Students enjoy interacting with the slides and different games that you can incorporate.
